'Playful Spirit'

A playful spirit, struggling to stay awake. Chimpanzees have individual personalities and rich social lives. It is difficult to believe that these fun loving, intelligent primates are now endangered.
... what will we tell our children when they disappear?A pensive look in the mother’s face as if contemplating the future of her off spring whilst her child is still warm and secure, listening to her mother’s heart beat. Something most human mothers can associate with. Moments like these reveal the long-term bonds that form in chimpanzee families.
Many years of hunting and destruction of their habitat has brought them to the brink of extinction.
"With this painting I hope to impress upon the viewer the fragility of the natural world and how precious life is. The blended colours give a gentle feel to an image already emotionally charged." ~ Daniel Taylor
The Nigeria-Cameroon Chimpanzee lives in Cameroon to the north of the Sanaga River and in the remaining rain forest fragments in southern Nigeria.
They have declined greatly in the past 20 to 30 years due to habitat loss. Their habitat is threatened by deforestation due to farming and development. Chimpanzees are also widely hunted for the bushmeat trade.
100% of the funds raised through the Chimpanzee painting will be used for conservation projects in South West Cameroon including protection of their habitat and human-primate conflict mitigation, training of local wildlife rangers, as well as community development and education.
